2020 Kia Optima

The 2020 Optima enters its current generation's fifth model year with several new standard technology features and enhancements, such as smartphone wireless charging1 (standard on EX and SX trims), and Forward Collision-Avoidance-Assist, enhanced to include Pedestrian Detection (on Optima LX and S trims). The EX Premium is now a separate trim rather than an option package.

Refreshed in 2019, the Optima's new design cues are inside and out, include expanded technology, a new UVO infotainment strategy and available European-inspired red and black two-tone sport leather-trimmed seats.

Additional available enhancements to the Optima line include revised alloy wheel choices, and ambient LED interior lighting. The Optima has received a number of redesigned interior and exterior elements. The LX comes standard with Stinger-inspired LED daytime running lights, a new 16-inch alloy wheel design and matte gray-finish grill.

A long list of enhancements to the affordable S model emphasize sportiness and technology, including: new projection beam fog lamps, LED taillights, dual exhaust, sport side sills with gloss black trim, a gloss-black grill and 18-inch alloy wheels. Standard push-button start, smart key, smart trunk and power front windows with auto up/down functionality add convenience.

Powerplants include the 2.4-liter GDI four-cylinder that produces 185 horsepower and 178 lb.-ft. of torque. The 2.0-liter turbo generates approximately 247 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with Sportmatic shifting. The Kia Optima has a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo engine. Pushing out 178 horsepower and a stout 195 lb.-ft. of torque, the engine mates to a seven-speed DCT. The transmission optimizes the engine's responsiveness for a sporty feel.
